Peter Jaekel - Accompanist

Born in Gloucester, Peter Jaekel studied at the Royal Academy of Music where
his tutors included Geoffrey Pratley and David Willison for piano
accompaniment and John Scott for organ. Since leaving the RAM, Peter has
been in great demand as an accompanist to singers, instrumentalists and
choirs both at home and abroad. He has worked with many of today's leading
musicians including the singers David Rendall, Marilyn Hill Smith and Diana
Montague, and the violinist Christopher Warren-Green.

He is principal repetiteur for Eastern Opera and a deputy accompanist for the London
Symphony Chorus, where he has worked for Sir Colin Davis and most recently
assisted for the performance of Mahler's 2nd Symphony at the BBC Proms with
Bernard Haitink. He is also accompanist to Hertford Choral Society, North
Herts Guild of Singers, and is organist of St Paul's Church, Knightsbridge.
He has been actively involved in many fields of education for several years
as a performance coach, piano tutor and adjudicator.
Peter's work has taken him to France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Canary
Islands, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, USA and Hong Kong. He has
appeared at the English Song, Deal and Brighton Festivals. Recent
engagements have included a recital with the soprano Bibi Heal in Brentwood
Cathedral, performances of Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony and Handel Organ
Concerti, and a tour of Belgium. Future plans include a tour of Italy.
